With all that we humans put animals through, it is surprising that they still learn to love and trust us, but such is their nature. Which makes it all too easy for those with ill intentions to harm an animal, but when the right person comes along, who does not take advantage of their loving and trusting nature, our pets begin to blossom. And today we are taking you through a collection of cute dogs and cats who got a second chance at life after being adopted by people who will love them forever.
1. I bet you won’t believe this is the same cat.

While that cone might not be the hottest fashion accessory on the market today, it cannot be denied that it is much nicer to look at than the disheveled state this cat was found in. Honestly, what were this cat’s previous owners thinking? Reverse mullets were never a thing, will never be a thing, and should be buried deep under the earth’s surface for crimes against hair.
2. What a 180

How can people let such a sweet and gentle soul get so poorly treated. It is truly astonishing how someone could look into this pup’s eyes and not melt inside, that they do not recognize the light and life inside this cuddly vessel of love.
3. “What a difference two years can make. Winnie was so sick when I adopted her. One thing that hasn’t changed is her amazing personality.”

Cats are very expressive creatures, which is evidenced by this fine young lady, who went from grumpy Gus to delightful Dani as she healed from her rough life on the street. It is shocking just how intense the street cat life truly is, a very far cry from the pampered fluff-balls that live in our homes.
4. Whosa Good Boy

What more does a doggo need than some food, water and love? They are not that hard to find, nor are they all too expensive, they just require the will. Which apparently this poor doggo’s original owners did not have. Thankfully, his adoptive parents know what they are doing and are raising a fine young man.
5. “AGAIN my mom who ‘did not want pets’ decided to help a kitten…”

Well this is much more impressive than it might look, but not because of the kitten, because of the cat. You see, cats can be…precious about their home and their stuff. So for a foreign kitty to rock up and expect sitting rights, the incumbent cat must be very understanding and generous for things to go smoothly and not end up in a fight.
6. From Crusty to Sweet Girl

Just look at that sweet baby face, how on earth do humans find themselves in positions to so severely neglect such a little angel? It has to come from one of the darkest places in a person’s heart, but thankfully, this pupper will be living out the rest of her days in harmony and peace.
7. “I thought I’d share my sweet girl, Beezle.”

This cat child looks like he got out of the house and got stuck into a series of street fights until he decided that he had to come home before things got out of hand. And after finding new parents in a less aggressive part of town, he looks very content with his life on the kitchen counter.
8. Skinny soul saved

Look, we get it, some breeds have a scarier reputation than others, it is just the way things are. But reputation is not everything, and from the get-go everyone deserves to be loved and cared for whether or not they carry a certain kind of reputation.
9. “Our little guy found in the road… His name is Winston and he was found covered in fleas and ticks by the highway. Now he is happy and healthy in his home”

This little fluffy fella has joker written all over him. If the healthy picture was not enough, just look at the before adoption picture where he is doing his very best gummy worm impression. You have got to love those people who just have fun no matter what scenario you put them in.
10. From Dehydrated to Completely Elated

What a new lease on life this poor pupper was given! It is rather terrifying to think how many darling doggos are left by the side of the road somewhere, clinging to life. At least this gal was found in the nick of time and given the life she deserved all along.
11. “Adopted a ratty old lady from death row and now she’s our floofy princess.”

Cats can be very cruel creatures, they have no issue laughing at you when you do or wear something stupid or out of the ordinary. Which must have made life before adoption rather difficult for this fluffy queen, who must have received quite a bit of flack for her less than complete hairstyle.
12. Daddy’s Girl

Don’t you just love how in the second photo the doggo looks as though he knows he was photographed like this before, when he could barely pick his head up, and is now super proud and happy to be in good health and in a loving home? Our doggos understand so much more than we give them credit for.
13. From Scared To Sweet

Some dogs seem to have rather short memories, which is rather wonderful when your start in life is less than advantageous. And this doggo seems to be more interested in what is happening right this minute than where he came from as a puppy. Which overall is a good thing, there is no need to dwell on the past.
14. From Little Lunchbox to Big Hoss

By the looks of it, this distinguished lady has had quite the improvement in her life conditions. Though it is interesting to look into her eyes on the right, as it almost looks like she is staring off into the middle distance thinking about the journey that brought her to her new parents and away from pain.
15. “She was in the middle of the street and riddled with worms. She is now healthy, loved, and throughly ungrateful”

From a scruff ball of fluff, to a fluffy ball of windswept fur, thankfully this catto got off rather lightly as a kitten and was easily able to make a full recovery in his new home where he had crunchies and treats on tap.
16. From Skinny to Stocky

When a dog knows love, you can see it in their eyes clear as day. Just look at the picture on the right and see how this beautiful doggo is looking straight into the soul of the person holding the camera. That is the person who taught this dog to love again.
17. From all Fears to all Ears

The things that us humans have chosen to do to dogs over the years is truly shocking. But there is perhaps nothing more vulgar and unecessary than the practice of clipping ears. It does not help the doggos, it hurts them and can lead to terrible medical situations as pictured above. Thankfully, a loving home can rectify a lot of the pain caused.
18. “He was actually the one who saved me”

You have to love how on the left the cat is still in full street mode, giving off a “What are you looking at?!” kinda vibe. While on the right he looks like a sweet good boy who has come to solicit crunchies that he is most certainly going to get because he deserves them.
19. Thank you for my life

Some wounds never heal, even with all the love in the world a dog might still only learn to trust the people in their closest circle. It is sad but reasonable considering how poorly some dogs are treated when they are thrown to cold outside world.
