30 Bands we wish would get back together

When it comes to our favorite bands, one can only hope we will get back together to create new musical experiences. And while some situations seem more like pipe dreams, others have excellent potential, and that is why we’re getting an Oasis reunion in a few months. Keep scrolling to find out other iconic bands we cannot wait to hear live again.

1. The White Stripes

Meg has virtually retired from being a rock star, and the two haven’t performed under the name since 2011. In the meantime, Jack is still doing well both as a solo performer and with other artists. It would undoubtedly be a hot ticket if the two ever took the stage together again.

2. Talking Heads

©Reddit

Even though they probably won’t perform together again, this renowned band has remained friendly with one another throughout the years. But there don’t appear to be any plans for a reunion anytime soon. Since the group’s dissolution in 1991, Byrne has remained the wild card, and Frantz and Weymouth, the husband-wife combination, have never ceased performing.

3. The Smiths

©Reddit

Rumor had claimed that renowned frontman Morrissey was joining The Smiths when they reunited for a 2025 tour. Though there are still differing rumors about what actually transpired and why a reunion of these somber Manchester rockers isn’t happening right now, it has been stated that former bandmate and guitarist Johnny Marr said “no” to the offer.

4. Skid Row (with Sebastian Bach)

©Reddit

Hard rock fans have been pleading for a reunion between Skid Row and the witty, captivating frontman Sebastian Bach for years, starting around 1996. Bach has long stated that he would rejoin the band that made him famous with his piercing voice, but it seems that business matters still stand in the way.

5. The Sex Pistols (with Johnny Rotten)

©Reddit

Johnny Rotten is what we mean when we talk about The Sex Pistols. Naturally, it is currently as unlikely as the dinosaurs coming back to Earth, even for a single song or performance, to get renowned leader Rotten (John Lydon) back together with former bandmates Steve Jones, Paul Cook, and Glen Matlock.

6. Rilo Kiley

Even though Jenny Lewis has maintained a hectic schedule and established a prosperous career as an indie rock idol, there appear to be some unresolved issues about one of her previous bands. Lewis stated as late as 2023 that she would be amenable to rejoining Blake Sennett, Pierre de Reeder, and Dave Rock as part of the L.A. indie rock group Rilo Kiley, which released four critically acclaimed studio albums between 2001 and 2007.

7. The Replacements

©Reddit

The day on July 4, 1991, when The Replacements performed what would be their last gig for over thirty years, with their roadies completing the set, seems to have lasted forever. A reunion of the original lineup is no longer feasible due to the passing of lead guitarist Bob Stinson, although it would be amazing for the band to make another appearance.

8. R.E.M.

©Reddit

At the Songwriters Hall of Fame induction event in June 2024, Michael Stipe, Mike Mills, Peter Buck, and Bill Berry performed the 1991 hit song “Losing My Religion” together. The last time R.E.M. performed live was fifteen years ago, and it had been thirteen years after the band’s disbandment. Even with the musicians’ present level of musical skill, this one-off served as a reminder of how unique R.E.M. was.

9. The Police

©Reddit

What if The Police made the decision to try another reunion? It would undoubtedly rank among the most sought-after tickets of the year. Nevertheless, it appears that Andy Summers, Stewart Copeland, and Sting still have no plans to collaborate, whether it is for a lengthy tour or a one-off show.

10. Outkast

©Reddit

Since 2014, André 3000 (André Benjamin) and Big Boi (Antwan Patton) have not performed as Outkast. Therefore, it seems sense that there is still a lot of demand for a reunion almost ten years later. There has been enough time for the two to get back and do something together.

11. NSYNC

©Reddit

A full NSYNC reunion seems possible, despite Justin Timberlake’s problems. When? Who knows? Not only did Taylor Swift lose her mind when the five members of the well-known boy band presented at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, but it also naturally led to rumors of a reunion.

12. Led Zeppelin

Since the rock giants broke up in 1980 due to the passing of drummer John Bonham, this reunion hope has persisted. As lovers of classic rock are aware, the late Bonham’s son, Jason, joined surviving bandmates Robert Plant, Jimmy Page, and John Paul Jones for the renowned Ahmet Ertegun Tribute Concert in London in late 2007.

13. Fugazi

Fugazi, a band from Washington, D.C., released six studio albums between 1990 and 2001, making them one of the most influential bands in the punk and alternative rock scenes. The band has, however, been on what has been referred to as an “indefinite hiatus” since 2003.

14. The Firm

©Reddit

The Firm, one of the greatest supergroups ever, issued two studio albums in the mid-1980s. The band included Manfred Mann’s Chris Slade, iconic guitarist Jimmy Page, prominent bassist Tony Franklin, and former Free and Bad Company singer Paul Rodgers. Page seems up for anything these days, but Rodgers has been dealing with health problems lately.

15. Destiny’s Child

LeToya Luckett, LaTavia Roberson, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams met Beyoncé on her Renaissance World Tour stop in Houston in 2023. Even if the former members of the Grammy Award-winning ensemble haven’t done anything particularly outstanding, it was one of the year’s most notable entertainment occurrences.

16. Daft Punk

©Reddit

The renowned electronica group’s French members, Thomas Bangalter, and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, have never really responded to any of the speculations that a reunion will occur. The boys’ return to the stage, which could have been the event’s high point, was not even enticed by the recent Summer Olympics in Paris.

17. Black Sabbath

©Reddit

There has been a good deal of rumors for the past year or two about the potential reunion of the original Sabbath lineup, which included Ozzy Osbourne, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, and Bill Ward. Even though Osbourne and Ward’s health isn’t the best, a Sabbath reunion wouldn’t last very long.

18. Aerosmith

©Reddit

Technically speaking, Aerosmith hasn’t broken up; rather, they’ve only stopped touring because of Steven Tyler’s ongoing vocal problems. However, it would be absolutely remarkable if Tyler could somehow recover sufficiently to return to the stage and eventually complete the band’s recently postponed farewell tour.

19. ABBA

©Reddit

This iconic Swedish pop quintet reunited as recently as 2022, but they snubbed any long-term reunion intentions in 2024. Given that Agnetha Fältskog, Björn Ulvaeus, Benny Andersson, and Anni-Frid Lyngstad are all in their 70s, fans would find even a one-time or short reunion to be well worth their time.

20. Rage Against the Machine

©Reddit

Given that they have gotten back together a few times since their original breakup, a Rage Against the Machine reunion is conceivable. Timing and the appropriate message would be crucial because they have always prioritized political activism over merely making money when touring.

21. The Cranberries

©Reddit

Lead vocalist Dolores O’Riordan passed away tragically in 2018, making a The Cranberries reunion impossible. And, since then, the remaining members have paid tribute to her memory with special releases and memorial events, but the band as it was is no longer in existence.

22. The Libertines

©Reddit

Despite internal conflicts, the band has reformed multiple times throughout the years, so a The Libertines reunion is undoubtedly possible. Despite their ups and downs, Carl Barât and Pete Doherty always seem to find a way to get back together, and their fans are always excited for more.

23. Soundgarden

©Reddit

It is nearly hard to have a Soundgarden reunion without Chris Cornell because of his untimely death in 2017. Although the band’s surviving members, Ben Shepherd, Matt Cameron, and Kim Thayil, have paid tribute to Chris’s memory, it is not possible for Soundgarden to reunite as the group that fans knew and loved.

24. The Verve

©Reddit

Given the lingering animosity between Richard Ashcroft and the other members, particularly following their tumultuous 1999 split, a The Verve reunion is doubtful. Richard has since concentrated on his solo career. It’s unclear if fans will ever get their wish for a full reunion or more songs because of the singer’s hesitancy.

25. My Chemical Romance

©Reddit

To the delight of fans, a My Chemical Romance reunion did take place in 2019. They made a comeback with a few live performances after splitting up in 2013, raising expectations for new music, even if nothing significant has been released as of yet.

26. The Strokes

©Reddit

Since The Strokes have been putting out music in recent years, their most recent album, “The New Abnormal”, was released in 2020, a The Strokes reunion isn’t really necessary. Even though the band’s sound has changed over the years and is not performing live nowadays.

27. The Jam

©Reddit

Given Paul Weller’s longstanding reluctance to address the band’s past, a The Jam reunion appears doubtful. Although he has periodically expressed gratitude for his time with the band, Weller has been concentrating on his solo career since their split in 1982 and has always stated that he wants to advance creatively.

28. Blur

©Reddit

In recent years, there has already been a Blur reunion. Following a series of concerts and tours in 2009, the band returned in 2021 with their first new single in nearly eight years, “The Narcissist.” And due to the band’s cohesiveness and timeless Britpop style, Blur fans are still hoping for more music or a bigger tour, even though Damon Albarn is busy with Gorillaz.

29. One Direction

©Reddit

Although it’s difficult, especially after the tragic passing of Liam, Directioners are always longing for a reunion. Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Zayn Malik have all pursued successful solo careers since the band’s 2016 sabbatical. Although the band is still friendly, there was some animosity following Zayn’s 2015 departure.

30. Nirvana

©Reddit

In1994, the death of Kurt Cobain precluded a Nirvana reunion. And although the remaining members have said that Kurt was the end of the band’s history, they have occasionally played some Nirvana songs. The closest fans are asking for a Krist Novoselic, Dave Grohl, and Pat Smear reunion. But will it happen?
